Painters, sculptors, printmakers, mixed-media and glass artists each bring a distinct voice to the collection—from the luminous landscapes of Andy Taylor and Dan Young to the expressive compositions of Simon Winegar and Heather Foster.
Located in the historic town of Basalt, just downstream from Aspen, the gallery presents a thoughtfully curated selection of artists whose work reflects both tradition and innovation.
Across the gallery, artists explore the land through varied interpretations of light, atmosphere, and memory. The atmospheric landscapes of Leon Loughridge and Marie Figge Wise capture fleeting moments in nature. Figurative works by Donna Howell-Sickles and Maura Allen explore the strength and presence of women in the West, complemented by the open plains and expansive settings often depicted by Linda Lillegraven. Narrative-driven paintings by Terry Gardner, Heather Foster, and Simon Winegar examine history, myth, and contemporary perspectives on Western identity.
Take home a modern-day relic of a ceramic horse by Amy Laugesen or a pot by Michael Wisner, who hand-digs his clay and carves every object with nature’s most meticulous patterns. Experience the classic realism of still lifes by Sarah Lamb, and observe the way that Dinah Worman arranges landscapes as though they were still lifes. All manner of wildlife — great and small — evoke humor and nostalgia through works by Diana Woods, Lisa Gordon, Heather Foster, and Paula Schuette Kraemer. The 40 artists represented by Ann Korologos Gallery are as diverse as the colors, contours and characters of the American West.
“One of the joys of working with contemporary artists is that their process is continuously unveiling and evolving intent, technique, and subject, allowing us the excitement of following along on their journey and learning alongside them. Our goal as a gallery is for everyone who visits to discover something new with each experience and find art they would love to live with.”
