Mike Weber featured in American Art Collector

We are pleased to share that artist Mike Weber‘s work is featured in the May 2019 issue of American Art Collector. “Collector’s Focus: Wildlife Art—Animal Kingdom” (p.76) as well as “Collector’s Focus: The Art of the Horse” (p. 156) illustrate several of his mixed media works. Weber’s art is a combination of paint and his own nature photography, mostly captured in the wilderness of America’s National Parks. His unique form of mixed media is about the craft and process of layering materials. The colors, textures and patterns are inspired by earthly landscapes, decaying signage from human life, and deteriorating German and Dutch homesteads near his childhood home in the Midwest. Each piece connects a global audience with a combination of materials and images that look perfect and ruined at the same time, juxtaposed to create rhythm, harmony and coherence.

Best of Show from my Black Series was created to allow the viewer an extremely up-close and rare experience of standing in front of tame and wild animals,” Mike Weber reflects. The work is done in his signature style, a combination of paint and nature photography shot by the artist. “My layering process of gold and silver leaf, large format photographic transfers, acrylic paint and high-gloss resin create a very dimensional and realistic visual, leaving the viewer wondering how the effect was achieved.”
