Sybil’s background as an artist started when she was a child in Texas, painting with her father in his studio. His creative edge and guidance influenced her from an early age.
Sybil’s studies have taken her all over the globe from an Art League in Puerto Rico to New York, France and Italy. She says, “Man’s link to horses is ancient. So, it is no surprise that as an artist, I am passionately intrigued with their spirit. Painting hypnotizes me and time is forgotten.”
Her paintings are oil, mixed media collage with vintage papers, newspapers-pages out of old history books (centered on the West) and music sheets. Splashes of mixed media paint over the subject create an energy and a spirit through each piece, every painting having it’s own story. Finally, she applies a clear resin on top to protect the subject and give the abstract feel of a glass sheet. Some of her paintings contain hidden messages and poetry buried within the collage.
Sybil loves the horse’s spirit, the clairvoyant energy that helps them; their eyes evoking an unseen aura of awareness-ancient and timeless, and that is what she strives to capture.
